In February 1931, the county commissioners acted to let the Philip Federated Women’s Club use a room on the 4th floor of the Court House for a library. It opened May 6, 1932 with 282 volumes and Mrs. L.A. Ferguson as Librarian. In 1966 they reported 4,000 volumes and in 1990 we have in excess of 10,800 volumes. The library is now housed on the 1st floor of the Court House.

In 2004, a Friends of the Library group formed to support the ongoing needs and activities of the library.
